BACKGROUND
The trust crisis in a decentralized world
Misinformation spreads faster than fact-checkers can debunk it. While Web3 promised transparency, its complexity alienated non-technical users. VerifyAI aimed to empower fact-checkers with blockchain’s immutability—without requiring a PhD in crypto.
THE PARADOX
Fact-checkers avoided Web3 due to clunky wallet setups and fear of losing funds.
Platforms struggled to incentivize honest work without centralized control.
VerifyAI’s mission: Let anyone combat misinformation, secured by blockchain, simplified by design.
WHAT WE WANTED TO SOLVE
“How might we make Web3 feel as simple as email for fact-checkers?”
72% of surveyed fact-checkers abandoned platforms after failed wallet connections.
58% feared losing staked funds due to UI errors.
Users spent 15+ minutes per session troubleshooting transactions.
RESEARCH PHASE
72%
reported discrepancies between online listings and actual properties
88%
relied on word-of-mouth recommendations due to lack of trustworthy reviews
83%
struggled with managing their online reputation across multiple platforms
THE DESIGN SOLUTION
I simplified Web3 interactions by designing a one-click wallet selector with familiar logos and added a Simulation Mode for risk-free practice. For staking, I replaced technical jargon with plain language and created a visual progress tracker showing the complete journey from stake placement to earnings.
To enhance safety, I implemented a 24-hour cooling period with SMS reminders before fund release and designed emoji-led error states for better comprehension. The earnings dashboard features a Trust Score connecting earnings to fact-checking impact, using warm gradients to make crypto balances feel approachable.
I developed the VerifyUI Design System with reusable wallet modules and worked directly with Solidity developers to ensure security in every component.
THE ROADBLOCK
Great design, empty wallet.
We nailed the UX – made crypto feel simple, built trust with users, even got fact-checkers excited. But building a secure Web3 platform costs money. A lot of money. Devs, audits, servers… our funding ran dry mid-launch.
Proud of the work, furious at the timing.
Hoping the team revives it in 2025. Blockchain fact-checking needs to exist.
